Fight
or die

Me and my wife will share with you our experience over 22 years doing the dog sport. Let us take you into our perspective on perception of a dog and  life with them.

All dogs are different, all dogs are original, so each of them deserves a specific approach because there is only one original.

Prey vs Person drive

Prey vs Person drive was invented because there still not clear many things, which in the end make huge different in your training.

You guys for sure know this :

What mean dominance and what means dominant barking?

What is the prey barking? Is my dog enough dominant?

Should I give my dog bite in the blind or through him sleeve out ?

Where happened that my dog stuck suddenly in barking and he has no voice anymore?

Why is my dog screaming in the grip and he is nervous in outing?

All and much more you will understand clearly after watching this course Prey vs Person drive.

Without hiding

Course about real work. Visible mistakes and direct solution.

Questions with clear answers and videos examples. Practice videos of this questions and all details explained by theory.

List of questions:

  • Please describe the excellent routine from the helper point of view.  Let’s go through each exercise and you will describe a perfect picture.
  • The dog is screaming on the sleeve. What does it mean? The dog is always insecure?  Is it genetic?  What mistakes handlers and helpers do that makes dog scream in the sleeve?  How to avoid those?   How you fix the dog which is screaming in the sleeve?
  • Conflict before OUT.  How relationship between dog and the handler impact aus? How to create voluntary out? Why it is important that the dog wants to bring the toy/sleeve to the handler?
  • Can you tell about prey and person drive. Which role each of those play in protection work?
  • Tell about starting puppy work. How do you choose the right method ?

  • Grips. Genetic or made. Which mistakes helpers and handlers make that make grips bad? Which mistakes we need to avoid? How you fix the bad grips?
  • Why dog doesn’t jump to the sleeve. How do you fix that? Some people use obstacles so the dog jumps over them. How you teach the dog to jump?

  • What work handler needs to do at home before protection?
  • Why you allow dogs to jump on you during protection training?
  • Control in protection. What is your philosophy, some use ball, some use food to reward obedience in protection.  What do you use?

  • What is dominant bark and hold? Difference between demanding the toy and dominant barking?
  • How to reward person drive barking? If before we give a bite we switch dog in pray?

Strike, Re - Atack, Game changer

No jump on Long Atack ? Dog goes under the sleeve? Or another problem with attacks? Check one of the trick which solve this problems. Here I want to show you tricks how your dog will be able adapt himself in the moment for any helper style and any cases which dog will be standing against to. Tricks which get your dog striking all attacks.

Helper was different - so be adaptable for all settings, sleeve presenting, angles, height of the helper.

Sleeve was different - so read different size of sleeves.

Angle reading has help in general for better strike of wide sleeves, quicker strike, fuller grips in all attacks.

Here im showing how do I challenge dogs to do fuller, faster and harder grips.

One of my favorit training exercise is in this course - the challenge to make dogs searching the way how to get into full grip. Dogs after that more appreciate the sleeve, they have calmer grips, are more stable and  much more technical and quicker.

This course I have been creating because all helpers have different style, they have different sleeves and attitudes. Your dog can be adaptable and unbreakable.

How I became into dogsport

I started dogsport autumn of 2002. This time I played ice hockey. I use to be played ice hockey, because my hyperactive behavior just tortured all around me. One day when I was running with my ice hockey team around the village which I'm from, kind of cardio training, I have noticed the dog sport club. The field where two guys been running around approx 8 dogs. I was just impressed and had the need go and check that. Next Sunday I wasn't on ice hockey training anymore, but I was in the club. So and since then I have preferred this sport until today. That was i met first time dog training club. From my young age, I did almost every sport there is, and I had a lot of support from my mom, who I owe to where I am today.

Helper work i started straight from the beginning I step first time to the club, that time I was 13 years old. Even before I bought my first dog, I have already trained with some police guys and their dogs. So my first home club was in Volary, where I was born and also started there with dogsport. This October I will be 35, so it is 22 years since this beautiful sport got me. My goal is to build and improve our sport as much as possible. Dog sport is my life.

The name Fight or Die was basically based on a moment in my and Repy's life at an early age. When I was 2 months old, I underwent head surgery due to premature closure of the cranial joints. That time was a difficult decision for my mom, it was about whether I would survive or die. And when Repy was little, he had tetanus at 4 months, and as you certainly know, 90% of individuals do not survive tetanus, but he survived it. We both chose to stay in this world and therefore Fight or die.

My dogs

I started with  German Shepherd without pedigree named Hard. After that I had a dog with pedigree GSD Iggi which I competed with in the junior category. After that, I had the opportunity to work with several types of dogs only to train and prep them for trials. I trained dogs for owners for tests and also for individual disciplines. After juniors, I wanted to compete in adults and my dream was to get to the WC. Forny came. A blue malinois with a huge heart. Forny was the first blue Malinois in the world to stand on both the FCI and FMBB podiums and his fame will never be forgotten. I am grateful to him for the great school for me as a dog handler and also for the great experience of working with a strong, determined and tough dog. I will never forget him. This is one part of my life. The second part is my Repy. Repy changed my life, he is my reward of the life and the best dog I have ever had. Because of him I met my wife and true luck of my life. He is like 444 horse powers with a clear and balance head powered by the biggest heart I have ever seen.

A Word to the Wise

I have really developed myself as a dog handler during the 4 years I have trained for Jany. Everything from how I prepare to how I handle the dog so that the dog has the best conditions to perform at its best. The fact that he himself competes at WC level means that he understands what is required and sets the bar high for all the details that makes a difference. Jany is constantly developing himself and his training system, which means that it is very rewarding to train for him also during a long time. I have trained three different dogs for Jany and is very happy with how they have developed!
Charlotte Jernbom, Sweden
Since I started with IGP, formerly IPO, about 15 years ago, I have trained with a number of very skilled helpers. Much to the delight of both me and my dogs. When I got my current competitiondog: Ringo vom Hessenstein, then about 1 year old, I started training with Jany, who I had previously only heard about. I have not met any helper who can read so well what the dogs need to change their behavior to a behavior that we want and which gives high points in the protection. That with very little means he can get the dogs to quickly understand what they are expected to do. This in a way that benefits both driver and dog. Jany's desire to get the best out of the dogs also makes it a pleasure to be involved not only in my own dog's training but also in the other dogs he trains.

Last year Dec 2023, We had a seminar with Jany Böhm in India 🇮🇳 which saw many participants and was truly outstanding. Everyone was amazed by how he transformed and corrected our dogs’ mistakes in just two sessions. Jany is an exceptional and world-class trainer and helper, and we are all incredibly grateful & committed to following his guidance. For anyone in search of a truly outstanding mentor and teacher in dog training, meeting him is an opportunity not to be missed.
Deepak Ram, India
Jany Böhm is a revolutionary trainer. From the first time I saw Jany Bhöm I understood that there is nothing like his training in entire world. He created is revolution not only in dog sport but in understanding of dogs in general. Understanding of drives and dog’s emotions and how to work with them. This is new way of dog training. Jany is incredible coach he clearly explains every step in incredible detail. People who coached by him grow extremely fast because of this precise explanation.
